The SOUL Legacy

Like good wine Diana Ross gets even better with time. Tonight she had seven costume changes, two encores, thanked Berry Gordy, looked terrific, dedicated her tour to Michael Jackson, and took me back to the Amphitheater, Caesar’s Palace, and many other venues where I was privileged to be Motown’s guest in the 60’s and 70’s.

Manuel “Manny” Esparza, a loyal Motown and Thelma Houston fan going back to the 60’s recognized, greeted, and gave me a loving hug. Manny gifted me with a souvenir program and lots of kind and lovely words, giving those sitting around me the impression that I was a celebrity.

Ms. Ross announced that she didn’t tour much last year because she became a grandmother. Her children, Michael’s children, Berry Gordy, and many other friends and family were in the audience to enjoy “More Today Than Yesterday, The Greatest Hits Tour.”

Imagine 5,000 fans standing and singing along most of the Wednesday night show at L.A. Live’s Nokia Theater. The applause was thunderous. She sang for most of two hours only leaving the stage for a few minutes to change into something more wonderful than what she was wearing before.

If you have the opportunity, give yourself a gift and go and see for yourself, Diana Ross is simply fabulous.
